a learning moment

We were in the Logan WalMart doing some grocery shopping this evening and my sweet little almost 5 year old says, in the most sweetest voice, "Those people are really black, that's weird..." (Luckily they didn't hear her.) I took her by the hand and pulled her to the side and tried my best to teach her.

"Honey," I began, "There are lots of people that aren't white like us. They may be just a little bit darker then us and there are some that are even darker then them. But they are all children of our Heavenly Father and we love them all. When we talk like that it can be disrespectful and hurt their feelings." I gave her hand a squeeze, she nodded, and we began walking.

Then Corbin said - dear, sweet Corbin - "Ya Mom, Reggie Wayne is black and we respect him, huh?"

(For those who don't know Reggie Wayne he is a wide receiver for the COLTS.)

Happy Birthday, Emma Shea!!

Two years ago we had our little angel Emma. She's added so much joy to our lives and we're so blessed to have her!! My sister, Leslie, took these pictures for me. I can't believe how tiny she was, it feels so long ago. I miss her being so tiny but, as you will see, I LOVE the stage she's at now. She's so much fun.

~Her special day~

"I am two!"

She loves her brother and sister.
Can you believe these two are sisters?

Balloons.

The cake.
I decided to go different this year and it worked out great. Kent's Bakery did these for me. We were camping a few days before her party so I didn't want to worry about baking and decorating anything. I thought they turned out pretty cute. As you can see Emma had her special donut.

We had a wonderful day with her.
Happy Birthday, my little 2 year old!!!

Bear Lake twenty-ten

Our Howard Family Reunion 2010 was up at Bear Lake this year. We were only there for two days but we had a good time. We only had half of the family there this time, hopefully next year there will be more. Thanks Jon and Angie for planning this one, it was fun!

Our kiddos.

Corbin having his 3rd - yes 3rd - bite of an onion ring. He was liking it until the onion fell on his chin and he shoved it in his mouth....

... it was down hill from there.

Look! A bear!

Corbin's great photo work.

Corbin, Jaxon, Marley
Is that a bench of bears??
We finally met up with the rest of the family. It rained for a while so instead of doing fire dinners we went and got pizza. Yummy!!

Are we surprised? Another bear.

Marley's photo skills. And no, Colt is not sweating. That's from the rain storm he stood in. I was completely dry because Emma and I were in the van. :)

Jon made the awesome scones. Delish!

Here's our bulldog - he's looking to the left. Let's call him Bart.

Jon trying a piece of cantaloupe with pepper on it, a recommendation from one of his friends. I don't think it was a hit.

What a good time, thanks everyone!!!

he does it, so she must

Like Brother...

Like Sister...

He gets bloody noses, she gets runny noses. We've done this to Corbin since I can remember. This past year Marley has decided to take up the habit. It's almost cute except when she makes the tissue so small I can hardly get it out. Kids are entertaining, aren't they?
