"Attention Wal-Mart customers...

... We have a lost mommy in the store. Stefanie, please come to customer service and claim your child."

Yup, that was us last week. If I could roll my eyes in typing that is what I would be doing right now. I was so mad, I've always been annoyed at "those" moms. How can you loose your child?!? Well, it happened to us.

We were looking at Halloween costumes (blasted Halloween!!) and Marley was becoming very frustrating to me. (Not to mention my body is going through changes due to a little birth control pill change, I know that is too information, but if it helps any in understanding what I was going through at the time... well, I tried.) Anyway, she was in a mood and she wasn't paying attention to me. So I walked away and she didn't listen or follow. I was just standing on the end of the isle and over a bit, and that is where they usually find us. This time Marley headed out the other end of the isle. When she wasn't coming, as we stood there arms folded and feet tapping, I decided to go back.

She wasn't there and then I got nervous. We were yelling for her and a kind sir said "She's over there." By the time I got to where "there" was she was gone. I was just about to head to customer service when they called for me. I was very relieved but a little upset at the same time. When I got there the worker lady said "She was very smart to come and find an adult." She wasn't crying or anything but she said she was very scared.

Yes she's very smart, maybe too smart. I wasn't happy about being one of "those" mom's but at the same time  it had a happy ending so I was relieved. Needless to say when we went back today (why so much??) we didn't loose her. Both children stayed very close by. This mommy did, too.

Flag Football 2010... Game Six

10/25/10

This is the third year we have done flag football and it has been the best so far. Not because we were undefeated but because it has been so fun watching these boys improve since the first game. Some of these boys weren't able to catch the ball and by this game they were catching and running it for 30 yards. One even got two touch downs. It is always fun to see these boys learn a sport and develop what they've learned.

On a personal note, Tyler and Corbin have improved GREATLY since year one. I remember Corbin couldn't catch and maintain control of the ball. And this year, WOW. He did so awesome on defense - interceptions and flag pulling. On offense he made great throws, some resulting in touch downs, but he also grew as a receiver and runner as well.

This last game was probably the best group of pictures - for two reasons. One, we had the early game so it was brighter and that always helps the pictures. And two - I just got better pictures of Corbin. I have to thank my mom for keeping the girls, that helped me focus more on the game. Plus they would have froze.

Corbin going for the flag. This one he missed. That kid is the fastest runner, he's pretty unstoppable. But I thought it was a great effort by Corbin, just the same.

the Receptions
Corbin made three receptions in a row, the end resulting in a touch down.

TOUCHDOWN!!

Walking out of the end zone after his touch down. He was so happy!

On the defense.

On the offense.

My little Quarter Back
And then the sun came out for a second. Look at those puddles on the infield of the baseball diamond.

I like looking at pictures of him playing Quarter Back, he did an awesome job.

Corbin is right in front of this number 4. He just caught the ball for a touchdown.

YOU GUYS ROCK!!

Corbin & Ty showing off their awesome trophies. And they really are awesome, probably the best we've ever had.

It may see as if we "ran the score up" but I promise you we didn't. After the first half Colt quit coaching. He was still on the field with the boys but he let the boys call the plays and just encouraged them to stay on their guy... which sometimes didn't work anyway. =)

What a wonderful time these kids had, and the parents were awesome and respectful. Colt even had a dad come up to him and shake his hand and thank him. In all the events that Colt has coached up here I've never seen that happen. We had good support from them, it was great.

Wish us luck for next year, I think Corbin is playing tackle.

GOOD JOB CORBIN!!

Conversations with Marley

WARNING: This little conversation isn't all that... "sweet". If you rather pass the opportunity for some Marley Humor I totally understand. This one was just too interesting to not post. She'll be SO embarrassed in about 8 years or so. =)

Marley came in the bathroom where I was getting things ready to get the girls in the tub and she starts going to the bathroom.

Marley: Mom, why is pee yellow?

Mom: Hmm... (I pretend to think and couldn't come up with anything smart, because I DO know that there is an answer to this scientific question) I don't know Marley, that is a very good question.

(I thought I ended it pretty well.)

Marley: Mom, why is poop brown?

At this point I just wanted to ignore her and not further this conversation, it was getting gross.... so now I share it with you...

Marley: And why is it, you know, like braided?

I was laughing so hard and was grateful for Emma's sudden presence to end the conversation...

The end.

Pumpkin Walk 2010

10/22/10
We went to Logan for a pretty cool Pumpkin Walk with Jon and Angie and their kiddos. It wasn't too cold this night, either, so I was happy about that. There were some pretty cool displays, all made out of pumpkins or other fall veggies, and the kids had a good time.

Corn Maze

10/21/10

For the October Pack Meeting we met at a corn maze. (This is why Corbin won't get his award until November.) It wasn't as cold as we thought it would be, so that was good. We had a good night with the families of the other Cub Scouts. Afterwards we got popcorn and hot chocolate.

Which way?

Marley & Page

We kept getting "lost" in the corn maze. Colt had mentioned, as it was getting darker, that if we didn't find our way out we'd have to sleep in the maze. Corbin was a little spooked - by it all - while Marley was having a "whatever", fun attitude with it all. So when Colt mentioned sleeping in the maze she goes "Oh no! That would be bad, I don't even have Scratchy!" Scratchy would be her favorite blanket. She wasn't so concerned about sleeping in a creepy corn field as she was not having her favorite blanket. She's so funny.

he's a Cub Scout

10/21/10

Corbin absolutely LOVES Cub Scouts. He is excited to go every week. He was very excited to get his Scout shirt, which Grandma Pam took him to buy as a baptism present. (Thanks, Mom!) He is so excited about it.

He completed his Bobcat requirements in just a week. He will be getting that reward at the November Pack Meeting. I'm so glad he is excited about this stuff. This past summer we went and saw his cousin, Nathan, receive his Eagle Scout and Corbin thought it was the coolest thing ever. Thanks, Nathan, for being a good example to him. Corbin is loving Scouts!!
