Conversations with Corbin

This conversation took place tonight at the dinner table.

Colt: What did you do at recess today?

(Colt asked this knowing what the answer would be.)

Corbin: Football.

Colt: (laughed a little) You played football?

Corbin: (nodding) Tryouts.

Me: You had tryouts for a football team?!?!

(now I've heard it all)

Corbin: Ya, we walked to the playground and I pointed. They were like "Nooo way..." I told them to hang upside down from the monkey bars and try and catch the ball. 

I laughed, a little nervously, and proceeded to tell him that having his friends try and do things that could possibly hurt them was NOT a good idea. "Use your head," I said. 

Corbin: It's been done before.

Me: By who?!?!

Corbin: A guy on the Arizona Cardinals. 

Ya, we had a good talk about keep your friends safe after this little conversation. 

This kid is ALL about football, I'm starting to get nervous....

Flag Football 2010... Game One

Yea!! Football season is back and this year we (Corbin) gets to play in our hometown. This is the first year our little city has done flag football, it will be nice to be closer to home. Colt is coaching again this year and so far they've had a blast. 

Corbin is doing awesome. He seems to have a natural way with this sport but he also works really hard with his dad. You can tell he's improved this past year, he's doing so well! He had a couple of touchdowns in this game and threw a couple of passes that resulted in touch downs. When he was playing defense he even got a kids flag down at the two yard line. He says he got kicked in the face by the runner during that play. He's loving this and it's been so fun to watch!!

The coach of the red team is in our ward. She wasn't too excited to coach because she doesn't know anything about football. At halftime Colt helped her team and then ended up coaching them for the last half. (My brother coached our team.) I'm glad he took this opportunity to be an example to his young team and his son. I'm glad Corbin is learning something more then football techniques. 

They won this game 47 - 13. Good job boys!!

Happy Birthday, Corbin!!

I can't believe my baby boy has turned 8 years old. It has gone by so fast!! I miss my tiny baby boy, my chubby little toddler that was my "bud", and my little man who was going kindergarten and just the "biggest boy ever"!! How I've loved these past 8 years with him. Happy birthday, Corbin!!!

We've had his baptism interview and have already attended his first Cub Scouts Pack Meeting. Here's to you growing up, big guy!!! I love you so much!!!

After watching big brother and big sister get ready and leave for school each day this little one thinks she's ready to go. She's such a doll face. I've enjoyed this time with just her but we sure do miss Bub and Mar.

Boondocks

~ Labor Day Weekend ~

We met Grandma and Papa Kierstead at Boondocks to celebrate the kids' birthdays. We miniature golfed, raced the cars, rode the bumper boats, and played in the arcade. We ended up at Wingers for dinner and the kids opened there gifts. What a fun day!
