Tonsil Buddies

~Dec. 11, 2009~

Here they are the night before showing off the "gems". Corbins weren't nearly as big as hers, obviously.

Cute, aren't they?

Playing and waiting. They obviously had no idea what was coming.

Miss M's tonsils were really bad. The doc said probably the biggest ones he's seen. Her adenoids were huge, too. He had a hard time getting them out through the nose. Ick, I can't even imagine. (Or I guess I can and it's just ick!)

He also said she had an ear infection in both ears. This was a problem with her. She would have the infection and we wouldn't know it until her ear drum had already burst. The one ear was really bad, he was hoping to get the tube in before it burst and he barely made it. I can imagine (because I've seen it) what came out of there when he put the tube in. Poor girl.

She didn't do well waking up. She was crying and screaming, we could hear her. It made me cry a little. If you look at her left foot you'll notice it's wrapped, too. That is where her IV was but when she woke up she kicked it out. They moved it to her right hand (it's all wrapped up) and the nurse told me that while they were inserting it she just sat there as calm as ever. It surprised them all. Her strength surprised them, too. She's a tough cookie when she's out of control.

Corbin did well waking up. He was crying too but not as bad. His tonsils and adenoids were over sized but nothing like his sisters.

Recovery at home was hard, I'm not going to lie. If I had taken one child in this day and the next the following week that second child never would've went!! It was hard giving them the medicine they needed, every kind hurt their throats. It was a fight every time. By day 9 things were going a lot better. I am glad it's over with, I think we all are!!

  1. Oh, my gosh. I had't seen these pictures before. What an awful time for you. And look, they are so excited in the pre-op pics. Oh, oh, oh - it makes me sad to see them post-op. Are'nt we glad it is several months in the past??

  2. Wow, Marley's are practically popping out on their own in that picture! It's amazing how resilient kids are. Way to go Stefie for hanging in there and taking care of two little sick kiddo's, I'm glad it's over for all of you too!
