Tonsil Buddies

~Dec. 11, 2009~

Here they are the night before showing off the "gems". Corbins weren't nearly as big as hers, obviously.

Cute, aren't they?

Playing and waiting. They obviously had no idea what was coming.

Miss M's tonsils were really bad. The doc said probably the biggest ones he's seen. Her adenoids were huge, too. He had a hard time getting them out through the nose. Ick, I can't even imagine. (Or I guess I can and it's just ick!)

He also said she had an ear infection in both ears. This was a problem with her. She would have the infection and we wouldn't know it until her ear drum had already burst. The one ear was really bad, he was hoping to get the tube in before it burst and he barely made it. I can imagine (because I've seen it) what came out of there when he put the tube in. Poor girl.

She didn't do well waking up. She was crying and screaming, we could hear her. It made me cry a little. If you look at her left foot you'll notice it's wrapped, too. That is where her IV was but when she woke up she kicked it out. They moved it to her right hand (it's all wrapped up) and the nurse told me that while they were inserting it she just sat there as calm as ever. It surprised them all. Her strength surprised them, too. She's a tough cookie when she's out of control.

Corbin did well waking up. He was crying too but not as bad. His tonsils and adenoids were over sized but nothing like his sisters.

Recovery at home was hard, I'm not going to lie. If I had taken one child in this day and the next the following week that second child never would've went!! It was hard giving them the medicine they needed, every kind hurt their throats. It was a fight every time. By day 9 things were going a lot better. I am glad it's over with, I think we all are!!

Say What?

This girl...

Coloring Contest Winner

December 2009

This year the winner in our family was Miss M. She was so excited, winning at the local gym. When they picked out the prize to give to their winner it was almost as if they knew her personally. She got a purse with lip gloss and hair pretties. As you can tell by her picture she was very excited!

Good job, sweetie!!

Go COLTS!!

It's no surprise that we're, shall we say, passionate about our COLTS? Well this particular football Sunday we were yelling and cheering and of course Miss E was all "what the heck?" (I still remember when she was a newborn and heard daddy yell at the TV for the first time. Scared her to tears.) She came in the living room, saw me pumping my fists and picked up on the action all too quickly. Go COLTS!!

Laughing at herself. Oh so cute.

So shy.

more pics of Tink

Emma did most of the bonding with Tinkerbell early on. Probably because she was more mellow then the other two.

Look at my baby! I can't believe how much she has changed in five months! Both of them, but I was talking about Emma. Tink has trippled in size, though, so she has changed a lot, too.

An early Christmas present 2009

December 2, 2009

It's been a couple of years since we've had a pet. Colt had been looking online for a while but I haven't found anything that I had fallen in love with. I wanted something that would work with our lifestyle, something small that we could take to the kids' baseball games in the summer. A pup that could be around the kids' friends without scaring them.

I went next door to our neighbors and she opened the door holding this tiny piece of cuteness. Her name was Cinnamon and I loved her. I went home, got Colt and made him come back to look at her. We both fell in love and a couple of days later brought her sister home to our family.

Her name is Tinkerbell.
(I named her, she would be my baby.)

Marley was quite unsure of what to do
with her at the beginning. She would hardly even touch her, but that changed quickly. We all love Miss Tinkerbell so much. Welcome to the family!

Conversations with Kids

What our school system is doing to our children.

This morning while getting ready for church...

Colt: "Today is fast Sunday, huh?"
Me: "Yup."
Corbin: "Does that mean it's early out?"
